Overview
The calculator uses a simple formula based on area, adhesive consumption per 1 mm, layer thickness, waste allowance, and bag weight. It is designed to be easy to audit for renovation, finishing, and tiling projects.
Use cases
- Estimating adhesive for bathroom, kitchen, or hallway tiling.
- Planning material purchases before a renovation starts.
- Checking how many bags of adhesive are needed for a specific tile system.
- Comparing adhesive demand for different layer thicknesses.
How it works
- 1
Enter the tile area in square meters.
- 2
Set the adhesive consumption per 1 mm in kg/m²/mm.
- 3
Provide the adhesive layer thickness in millimeters.
- 4
Add a waste percentage for cuts, unevenness, and application losses.
- 5
Enter the bag weight to calculate how many bags you need.
Examples
Simple formula
Input: Area × consumption per mm × layer thickness
Output: Base adhesive amount in kg before waste.
This gives the net adhesive requirement for the surface you plan to cover.
With waste
Input: Base kg × (1 + waste percent / 100)
Output: Total adhesive amount in kg.
Adds a practical reserve for losses and uneven substrate.
Bags needed
Input: Total kg ÷ bag weight, rounded up
Output: Number of bags to buy.
Always round up so you do not run short on site.
FAQ
How do I calculate tile adhesive needed?
Multiply the area by the adhesive consumption per 1 mm and by the layer thickness. Then add the waste percentage and divide by the bag weight to get the number of bags.
Why should I add waste?
Waste covers mixing losses, uneven floors or walls, and small application differences. A small reserve helps avoid buying too little.
Should I round bags up?
Yes. Bags should always be rounded up to the next whole number because you cannot buy part of a bag.
